Located in Mouriscas, in the municipality of Abrantes, the bridge is situated next to the Alferrarede Stream, on private land belonging to Quinta do Bom Sucesso, in a rural environment with vegetation typical of the region.
Ancient construction with Roman features, possibly from the 1st to 4th centuries. It was reinforced in the 17th century, taking advantage of a previous structure that would have served as both a bridge and reservoir.
Built of stone, it is approximately 55 meters long and 10 meters high. The solid and robust structure reveals the construction technique of the time, resistant and well-preserved.
In addition to allowing crossing, it functioned as a dam for irrigating fields and supplied water for local mills, supporting the agricultural activity of the region.
Although it is on private property, access is possible from paths near the road between Alferrarede and Sardoal.
Classified as a Property of Public Interest, the bridge represents a testament to local history. It is of interest to those who appreciate architectural heritage and places of historical value.
