Located in the parish of Marvila, in the historical center of Santarém, near the Torre das Cabaças (Tower of the Gourds).
It is one of the most emblematic monuments of Santarém, representing a rare example of the transition between Romanesque and Gothic architecture in Portugal.
Built in the 12th century by the Hospitaller Order, it was part of an old monastic complex linked to the protection of the city.
It was classified as a National Monument in 1910.
