Located in Louriceira, in the parish of Malhou, Louriceira and Espinheiro, in the municipality of Alcanena, this church is an important landmark in both local and regional history.
It is estimated to have roots dating back to 1151, although the current building dates from the 16th century. In 1996, it was classified as a Property of Public Interest due to its historical relevance.
Dedicated to Our Lady of the Conception, the church exhibits elements of the Manueline style, with alterations over the centuries. The facade has a gabled pediment, accompanied by a low, quadrangular tower, which reflects the 16th-century style.
The interior is covered with blue and white tiles from the 17th century. These tiles once decorated the entire church. In the areas of the baptistery and the main chapel, the tiles also cover the vaults, creating an environment of great visual richness.
On the walls, there are paintings of religious themes, such as Our Lady of the Conception, Adoration of the Magi, Flight into Egypt, Baptism of Christ, among others. These paintings are embedded in the ceramic covering and decorated with elaborate "lace" style frames.
On the floor of the main chapel, there is a tombstone with the coat of arms of a lion and a partially erased epitaph, where the names of Lopo Dias Fayn, a nobleman of the king's house, who died in 1560, and his wife are inscribed. This detail is a point of interest for those who appreciate history and symbolism.
