The Church of Nossa Senhora da Ribeira is located in the small village of Porto da Vala, which is part of the union of parishes of Outeiro da Cortiçada and Arruda dos Pisões, in the municipality of Rio Maior. This temple is set in an environment that invites tranquility, typical of the region's villages, offering a genuine contact with the local heritage.
Although the exact construction date of the Church of Nossa Senhora da Ribeira is not known, the oldest references to this building date back to the 17th century. Its location in the territory suggests that this site might have already been a place of worship or a space with religious significance for the community in even more ancient times, before the current structure was erected.
This temple features a single nave design, a common characteristic in many parish churches. Inside, in addition to the main altar, there is a set of two collateral altars that complement the space. Outside, visitors can observe the bell tower, which rises and is topped by pinnacles, and a notable sundial present on the facade, an element that highlights its age and offers a detail of historical interest.
