The Azinhaga Mother Church stands in the heart of Azinhaga, part of the municipality of Golegã. Its central position in the small village, overlooking the Almonda river, gives it a notable and easily identifiable presence in the surrounding urban environment.
The history of Azinhaga parish dates back to the 13th century, with a mother church of medieval origin. Over the centuries, the building underwent significant renovations, particularly in the 16th and 17th centuries, which substantially shaped its appearance. Later, in 1882, the temple was subject to a remarkable reconstruction, after being affected by the French invasions, a fact noted in an inscription on its portal. Following this recovery, the church became dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Conceição (Our Lady of the Conception), its current patron saint.
Inside the church, elements testifying to the various phases of its construction and transformation are noteworthy. The tile coverings in shades of blue and yellow stand out, adorning the spaces and including an embedded panel alluding to the Eucharist. The main altarpiece, in turn, is made of carved wood, with finishes that simulate marbling and golden details, adding visual richness to the main altar.
