The Magos Dam is situated in the Foros de Salvaterra area, within the municipality of Salvaterra de Magos. This location, taking advantage of the course of the Ribeira de Magos (Magos Stream), gave rise to a significant body of water, the reservoir, which shapes the surrounding landscape and constitutes a point of reference in the area.
With its construction over the Ribeira de Magos, the dam created a large reservoir, extending for approximately 90 hectares. This vast surface of water acts as a dominant scenic element in the local landscape, offering a tranquil and open environment. It is a setting conducive to nature contemplation, with the constant presence of water defining the atmosphere of the place.
This place is particularly known and frequented by sport fishing enthusiasts. The reservoir hosts various species, with carp and rudd being frequently sought after by fishermen. The Magos Dam therefore constitutes a meeting point and a place for practicing this activity, notable for the convivial and sharing atmosphere among those dedicated to it.
The maintenance and revitalization of the Magos Dam frequently benefits from the active involvement of the local community, particularly through sport fishing associations. This commitment contributes to the conservation of the space and the organization of events, ensuring that the dam remains a lively and well-maintained point of interest for visitors.
