Located on a high point in the Fátima area, in Cabeço da Fazarga, with a wide view over the surrounding landscape. Ideal for those who enjoy walks with good panoramic views.
There are five windmills aligned, four in white painted masonry and one in wood. They are typical examples of the Estremadura region.
These windmills were used to grind cereals such as wheat, corn, barley and rye, using wind power. They show the importance that cereals had in the diet of the local populations.
One of the windmills belongs to the municipality and functions as the core of the Municipal Museum, where you can learn more about the old milling cycle and the life of the millers Adelina and Adriano.
Despite the natural beauty of the place, some windmills are degraded, with signs of abandonment, uncleared vegetation and graffiti on the walls. The visit may cause some disappointment to those who expect a well-kept space.
Access can be done on foot and there is no waiting time or need for booking. Ideal for those who like to explore outdoors without schedules.
