The Minde Bandstand is located in the heart of the town, in Largo Justino Guedes. This square, a tree-lined urban space, serves as a central point in the village, intersected by various roads. The ground surrounding the bandstand is covered with traditional Portuguese pavement, where geometric patterns are drawn in black limestone, contributing to the welcoming atmosphere of the place.
Inaugurated in 1933, this bandstand stands out for its functional and decorative architecture. Its octagonal base is covered with tile panels, which are one of its most notable features. These tiles, attributed to Manuel da Silva Santos, depict various trades related to the textile industry, an activity of great historical importance for Minde. The upper structure is supported by cast iron columns, which uphold an eight-sided iron roof, adorned with a valance that gives it a particular aesthetic touch.
Before the bandstand's construction, the inhabitants of Minde erected temporary stages for performances by philharmonic bands during local festivals and celebrations. With the formation of the village's philharmonic band in 1915, the need for a permanent structure became evident to avoid the constant effort of assembling and disassembling provisional stages. The Minde Bandstand thus emerged as a lasting solution, establishing itself since its inauguration as the central stage for music and the cultural and recreational events that animate the community.
