District: Santarém > Constância > Constância
Built in 1825 by order of D. João VI, it is the oldest bridge in the municipality. It was created to improve access between locations, especially during floods in the Tagus River.
Stone structure with a single, elegant arch. It includes a commemorative landmark near the exit to Montalvo, which honors its construction.
Located over the Caldelas Stream, near the current EN 3, between Constância and Montalvo.
It is no longer used as a road bridge, but it was restored in 1995 to preserve its historical importance.
The bridge is part of the route of the old "Estrada Nova" (New Road), described in the 19th century as a wide, safe and comfortable route. This road marked a significant change in transport in the region.
