The Misericórdia Church of Constância is located in the town of Constância, in the district of Santarém, and was classified as a Property of Public Interest in 1978.
The church was founded in 1580, when the Brotherhood of Misericórdia acquired land for the construction of a new church and a hospital (which was demolished in 1960). The church's construction extended until the second half of the 17th century.
The church has a Mannerist style, with a longitudinal plan and a single nave. The main facade has a portal dated 1696, with rectangular frames, pilasters, and an image of the Virgin placed in a niche. The church has a rich interior decoration, with 17th-century tile panels in shades of blue and yellow, which cover the walls, and six paintings depicting the Life of Christ.
The main altar has a gilded wood altarpiece in the national style. Above it, is the coat of arms of D. Pedro II.
Between 1811 and 1822, the church was the main church of Constância, as the temple of São Julião was destroyed during the French Invasions. In 1941, due to floods that caused damage, the church was closed to worship until 1960.
