Located at the highest point in Chamusca, the Miradouro do Senhor do Bonfim offers a vast panorama of the region. From here, one's gaze reaches the immensity of the Ribatejo floodplain, with its open fields, and, in the distance, the serene line of the Tagus River, drawing the horizon.
This place provides a tranquil and inviting environment for a break. It is a green and open space, ideal for enjoying the landscape in complete calm. There are tables and benches that allow visitors to relax and absorb the wide scope of the view that stretches for miles, revealing the region's characteristic natural beauty.
The area of Miradouro do Senhor do Bonfim is rich in history and tradition. Near the viewpoint stands the Hermitage of Senhor do Bonfim, an 18th-century temple that over the centuries was an important pilgrimage site and considered one of Chamusca's landmarks. In its churchyard there is also a humble cross. This space holds memories of a vibrant past, having been the setting for 'segunda-feira de Sestas' (Sestas Monday), an old fair that brought together laborers from both the river and the fields on the Monday after Easter Sunday, underscoring the deep connection of this site to the local community and its rural roots.
