The Fountain of Santo António is located in the peaceful village of Asseiceira, part of the municipality of Tomar. Its location is enhanced by the proximity of a simple chapel, accessed by a staircase, giving the ensemble an atmosphere of local calm and spirituality.

Architecture and Symbolism

This old fountain, built of stone, is a testament to the importance of water in the lives of communities throughout the centuries. Its structure, though modest, reveals the functionality and aesthetics of yesteryear, with two spouts from which water continuously flows into a tank. It underwent restoration in 2004, seeking to preserve its original character.

Above the fountain, a tile panel illustrates the figure of Saint Anthony, the patron saint associated with the place. This artistic and devotional representation underlines the fountain's connection to the identity and faith of the Asseiceira community, complemented by the presence of a coat of arms above the entrance to the adjacent chapel.
