Located in the Old Village of Ourém, this point of the Via Sacra is situated in the most historical and elevated part of the locality. Its position offers an environment of quietude, characteristic of the streets and nooks of the old village, allowing an immersion into Ourém's traditional atmosphere.
The 2nd station of Ourém's Via Sacra is an integral part of a devotional path that extends throughout the Old Village. Each of the fourteen stations recalls a moment of the Passion of Christ. This one, in particular, represents the moment when Jesus accepts the cross, symbolizing burden and sacrifice, and invites reflection on the tradition and faith rooted in the local community.
The structure marking this second station is a modest stone oratory, built with the simplicity and robustness characteristic of the region's popular architecture. Inside, protected by railings, there is an artistic representation illustrating the biblical episode it refers to, inviting contemplation and recollection from the visitor.
