Location

- Approximately 1.5 km from the center of Amarante, the nursery is located in the Veiguinhas greenhouses, surrounded by nature.

Area and Structure

- The nursery occupies about 4 hectares of land.

- It has 18 greenhouses, each with a useful area of 400 m², in addition to a warehouse and irrigation facilities.

History and Importance

- It has been in operation for over 70 years, being fundamental for the production of forest plants.

- One of the four nurseries under the management of the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF).

Plant Production

- Produces more than 50 species of trees, both deciduous and coniferous.

- It has an annual production capacity of around 300,000 deciduous plants and 200,000 coniferous plants, which are used in conservation and sold on the market.

Conservation Initiatives

- The nursery has recently been modernized to better meet the needs of forest protection.

- Participates in the Floresta Comum project, which aims to restore and strengthen native forests.

Natural Environment

- Located within the Amarante Forest Park, which has a rich diversity of plants and animals, such as sequoias, plane trees and various birds.

- It is a perfect place for walks and outdoor activities, offering a peaceful and beautiful environment.
