Quinta de Baixo, also known as Quinta dos Condes de Paço Vitorino, is located in Vilar de Andorinho, a parish in the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, in the Porto region.
- The estate dates back to the 17th century, being owned by João Álvares Monteiro in 1654.
- By 1756, it already had its current configuration, with the dwelling house, the chapel, and other outbuildings.
- It was later inherited by José Pinto Monteiro and passed to the Calheiros Lobo family, Counts of Vitorino das Donas, at the end of the 18th century.
- The estate was part of a large agricultural and territorial heritage, including lands up to Lijó and Monte Grande, in the same parish.
- The estate house follows a Baroque style, but in a simpler form and with less decoration compared to other estates in the region.
- The house has a "U"-shaped floor plan, with great symmetry and a central staircase.
- It stands out for its sobriety and simplicity in the lines and facades, creating a pleasant visual effect without excessive ornamentation.
- The building has a balcony on the upper floor, supported by columns, with three arches on the lower floor that connect the lateral bodies of the house.
- The chapel, located in the northern body of the estate, has a facade with a trapezoidal pediment and a bell tower.
- The chapel is integrated into the building, with the lateral facade also accompanied by the balcony.
- The bell tower is one of the most notable elements of the chapel, balanced by lateral pinnacles.
- The main entrance of the house is not directly through the internal courtyard, due to a wall that separates the exterior area of the estate.
- The internal courtyard is surrounded by facades and provides an interesting view of the building and its balconies.
