The Ribeira da Archeira Urban Park is located in Pinheiro de Aquém, in the municipality of Gondomar. This green space serves as a natural link between the central area of Gondomar and the banks of the Douro River, following the course of the Archeira stream. Route and Natural Environment

With a route extending for approximately 2.9 kilometers, the park offers a diverse experience to its visitors. Along the way, the environment alternates between denser woodland areas, which feature small changes in terrain elevation, and more flat and open areas, where the stream gently winds its way through agricultural fields. This transition of landscapes provides direct contact with the diversity of local flora and the beauty of the riverside scenery.

Paths and Cycle Path

The design of the Ribeira da Archeira Urban Park was conceived to promote outdoor activities and the enjoyment of nature. It features a dedicated path for pedestrians, ideal for leisurely strolls, and a parallel cycle path. These routes allow both those who prefer to walk and those who cycle to enjoy the landscape and tranquility of the location, each at their own pace and in safety.

The Night of the Fireflies

One of the most unique and captivating aspects of this park lies in its attention to nocturnal wildlife. In certain areas, the lighting system has been planned to allow for the observation of fireflies. Through careful light management, it is possible, at specific times, to reduce the intensity or temporarily turn off the luminaires. This initiative creates ideal conditions to appreciate these luminous insects in their natural habitat, offering a unique experience and highlighting the park's commitment to biodiversity and nature observation.
