The Church of Santo André is located in Telões, a parish in the municipality of Amarante. It is a historic church and part of the Romanesque Route.
Built between the 12th and 13th centuries, it follows the Romanesque style, characteristic of that era.
Over the centuries, the church underwent some modifications, such as the construction of a galilee, sacristy, and new windows, reflecting different styles and needs.
The church exhibits altars and altarpieces in the Mannerist and Baroque styles, installed between the 17th and 18th centuries, enriching the space with a mixture of artistic styles.
The structure still maintains important Romanesque vestiges, such as buttresses in the chancel area, which suggest that the area was planned to have a vault. The original triumphal arch is also preserved, with decorative vegetal details on the capitals.
Classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1977, the church has a high cultural and heritage value.
