The pillory is located on Rua, in the former village of Teixeira, now integrated into the union of parishes of Teixeira and Teixeiró, municipality of Baião, district of Porto. It stands in a small open-air square, flanked by granite houses that emphasize the traditional character of the village.
It dates back to the 16th century, erected after the granting of the charter in 1514, at which time Teixeira gained municipal autonomy. It has been classified as a Public Interest Property since 1933, reflecting its relevance in local history.
Built in granite, it stands on four steps leading to a simple cylindrical shaft, enhanced by a discreet central ring. The quadrangular capital supports a small column at the top, giving it sober and balanced lines.
The monument stands out in a tranquil space, surrounded by walls and rustic stone dwellings. The rural surroundings invite calm contemplation and photographic records, away from urban movement.
