The Roman Villa of Sendim is located in Agrelo, in the parish of Sendim, municipality of Felgueiras, district of Porto. It is situated on a platform overlooking a small valley, near the Vizela River.
This archaeological site dates back to the 4th century AD, offering a glimpse into life during the Roman era in the region.
The villa was part of a large agricultural and residential complex. The ruins reveal several living spaces, some with opus signinum floors (a type of mortar used by the Romans) and colorful mosaics with geometric patterns.
It was discovered in 1992 during the construction of a house. The Felgueiras City Council acquired the land to enable the continuation of excavations and to protect the site.
In December 1994, the Roman Villa of Sendim was classified as a Property of Public Interest, which underlines its historical and cultural importance.
The collection found during the excavations, which includes thousands of archaeological fragments, is available for viewing at the Interpretation Center, which also serves as support for visits to the ruins.
