The Castro de Santa Margarida is recognized as a site of public interest due to its cultural and historical relevance.
Situated in the Serra de Monte Córdova, at 283 meters altitude, it offers a wide view over the valleys of the Vizela and Ave rivers, covering the north, east, and west.
The settlement has an oval shape and includes a set of ancient buildings, surrounded by granite rocks that are part of the natural landscape.
The original walls formed a strong defensive system, with thick walls and a rocky base that can still be observed on the east face.
There are ruins of circular dwellings that show the lifestyle of the ancient inhabitants, built with durable techniques.
Pieces of ceramics with typical finishes of the time have been found, such as cups and dark clay pots, which show the traditional way of life.
This place, occupied in the castrejo period before the Roman presence, preserves genuine characteristics of the ancient local culture.
