Located in the Jardim de São Lázaro (São Lázaro Garden), in the parish of Santo Ildefonso, in Porto. The garden is a green space in the city center, ideal for a peaceful walk.
The fountain was originally a lavabo that belonged to the Sacristy of the New Church of the Convent of São Domingos, which was destroyed by a fire in 1832.
In 1883, the fountain was transferred to the Jardim de São Lázaro, where it remains to this day, beautifying the space.
This fountain stands out for its simplicity and historical importance. It is a piece of marble that has stood the test of time, being a link to the city's religious past.
The fountain is surrounded by the trees and paths of the garden, which has been remodeled over the centuries and offers a romantic atmosphere, ideal for relaxing and appreciating history and nature.
The Jardim de São Lázaro has entrances from several important streets, such as Avenida Rodrigues de Freitas and Passeio de São Lázaro, being close to other points of interest, such as the Municipal Library.
This is one of the oldest gardens in Porto, created in the 19th century, and continues to be a place of leisure for residents and visitors.
