Its extent is naturally defined by jetties, one to the north, near the Vila do Conde harbour, and another to the south, contributing to the framing of its coastline.

The name Praia do Senhor dos Navegantes has a direct link to the devotion and culture of the local fishing community. It receives this designation due to its proximity to the Chapel of Nosso Senhor dos Navegantes, in the Caxinas area. The Senhor dos Navegantes (Lord of the Navigators) is a central figure for fishermen, representing protection and hope for those who go out to sea. This association gives the beach a particular symbolism, reflecting the faith and daily life of a community connected to the ocean.

Natural Characteristics

This beach is marked by an extensive sandy area, providing an open space by the sea. In addition to its sandy strip, the southern area of Praia do Senhor dos Navegantes is distinguished by the presence of continuous rock formations. These rocks, which extend along a significant part of the waterline, enrich the landscape and offer a different perspective of the coast, in contrast to the vastness of the sand.
