On the coast of Matosinhos, in Lavra, lies Praia do Paraíso, part of the area known as Cabo do Mundo. Facing the Atlantic Ocean, its position offers a view that extends along the coastline. To the south, on days of good visibility, it is possible to observe the silhouettes of some chimneys from Matosinhos' industrial park, while to the west, next to the beach, a kart track is located, serving as a point of reference in the area.
Praia do Paraíso stands out for its more reduced sandy area, which is punctuated by a notable presence of rock formations. These rocky massifs shape the landscape, creating more sheltered nooks and defining part of the bathing area. The interaction between sand and rocks offers a unique aesthetic to the beach, inviting contemplation of the coastal environment.
To protect the existing dune system and facilitate access to the sandy area, the beach features wooden walkways. These paths rise above the coastal vegetation, allowing visitors to cross the dune without disturbing it. At its northern end, a small watercourse, the Ribeira de Joane, flows into the ocean, integrating into the natural dynamics of the area and adding a riparian element to the maritime landscape.
The most suitable area for enjoying a swim in the sea is located in the southern part of the beach, near the boundary defined by a small watercourse. The water quality is recognized, and the beach has been distinguished with awards that attest to its environmental conditions and its suitability for different users, such as the Blue Flag and the Accessible Beach distinction. These characteristics indicate that Praia do Paraíso offers a well-maintained environment for those seeking a moment of leisure by the sea.
