Praia do Carvalhido is located in the urban area of Póvoa de Varzim, integrated into the historic Fishing Quarter (Bairro Piscatório). This maritime beach is centrally positioned, following the coastline along Avenida dos Banhos and Passeio Alegre, and is situated between Praia Redonda and Praia da Salgueira. Its surroundings are characterized by a consolidated urban environment, complemented by a pedestrian promenade that invites peaceful strolls along the seashore.
Characterized by a sandy area of modest dimensions, Praia do Carvalhido stands out for its clear sand and the presence of some rock formations, both on land and in the water. This space, often organized with its typical awnings, records considerable movement, reflecting its popularity, especially during the bathing season. Although northerly winds, known as "nortadas," are frequent, particularly in summer, the beach is also recognized as a suitable spot for surfing on certain days and may experience episodes of sea fog, which usually dissipate as the day progresses.
One of the distinctive features of Praia do Carvalhido is its viewpoint, which offers a privileged perspective over the city of Póvoa de Varzim and the surrounding coastal landscape. This space invites moments of contemplation and photographic records of the area. Additionally, this beach is an example of inclusion, being part of the "In-Póvoa, Accessible Beach" project, which aims to provide all people, including those with reduced mobility, access to the sea and the opportunity to enjoy the bathing environment through specific equipment.
