Praia do Atlântico is located in Francelos, in the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, and is named after the urbanization it is part of. It is situated on the Portuguese coast, bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Its setting is marked by the presence of a well-preserved dune system, which extends along the coastline, separating the sandy area from the urbanized zone. To facilitate circulation and protect this ecosystem, there is a boardwalk that allows for the observation of the coastal landscape.
This oceanic beach is distinguished by a sandy area of medium length and limited width, embraced by the vast ocean and the aforementioned dune system. The emphasis is placed on the natural beauty of the surroundings.
Along the waterline, especially in the North area of the beach, rocky formations can be observed. In some bathing areas, there are submerged and scattered rocks that invite visitors' attention. The central and South areas of the sandy beach tend to be the most sought after by those looking to enjoy the sea and the sand.
Praia do Atlântico is annually distinguished with various awards that attest to its excellence. Among these, the Blue Flag and the Gold Flag stand out, which prove the high quality of the bathing water and the good environmental management of the location.
Additionally, the beach has been recognized with the status of an Accessible Beach, demonstrating a commitment to inclusion, and also with the Zero Pollution award, which highlights its well-maintained and clean environment. These recognitions reinforce the importance of preserving this natural space for everyone's enjoyment.
