Vila Chã Beach is located in the town of Vila Chã, part of the municipality of Vila do Conde, on Portugal's Atlantic coast. It is integrated into an urbanized area of the same name, which provides an accessible and well-situated environment. Its position along the coast is part of the Vila do Conde Coastal Regional Protected Landscape, an acknowledgment of the area's natural beauty and environmental value. Access to the beach is facilitated by elevated wooden walkways that meander parallel to the coastline, offering pleasant strolls and a harmonious connection with the surrounding landscape.
This beach is characterized by a sandy stretch that, while considerable in its total length, is interspersed with various rock formations. These rocks, some of them submerged and extending along the coastline, define the sandy areas and create a unique environment. In the beach area, the Ribeira das Gatas stream flows into the ocean, adding a distinct natural element to the landscape. Given the presence of boulders and rocky areas, visitors are advised to observe the site carefully, especially first-time visitors, to ensure a mindful beach experience.
Vila Chã Beach still preserves an atmosphere connected to its fishing tradition. It is common to see small fishing boats anchored in the northern part of the sandy area, an element that adds color and authenticity to the landscape. These boats are a remnant of the main activity the local population engaged in, and their presence on the sand contributes to maintaining the identity of a fishing village, offering a glimpse into the life and customs of the coastal community.
The beach is recognized for its tranquil conditions, being naturally sheltered from the wind, which contributes to a more peaceful environment. Its quality is attested by important awards, such as the Blue Flag, which signals compliance with rigorous criteria for environmental management, water quality, and safety. Additionally, the "Accessible Beach" designation reflects the effort to ensure that its infrastructures allow for comfortable and safe use by a greater number of visitors.
