Located in the town of Mindelo, which belongs to the municipality of Vila do Conde, Mindelo Beach (North) is situated on the coastal strip of the Areia, Mindelo area. Its northern position, next to the Vila do Conde Regional Protected Landscape of the Coastline and the Mindelo Ornithological Reserve, gives it a unique setting where preserved nature is palpable.
This beach is distinguished by the striking presence of large rock formations that spread across the sand and along the waterline. Unlike other neighboring beaches further north, these rocks are a defining element of Mindelo's landscape. The sandy area has a more contained dimension, punctuated by these natural structures that shape its physiognomy.
The configuration of Mindelo Beach, in a small cove, together with the presence of its rock formations, offers a sheltered nature. This aspect protects it from more intense winds, such as the typical 'nortada' (north wind), creating a more secluded and tranquil environment. The rocks, in addition to their protective function, invite exploration and contemplation of the coastal scenery.
