Located in the town of Leça da Palmeira, in the municipality of Matosinhos, Leça Beach stretches along the Atlantic coast. It is set in an environment that combines the seafront with its urban surroundings. At its southern end, it is delimited by a set of ocean pools, distinctive elements of the coastal landscape. It is also here that the Sardoal Stream meets the sea, flowing into it in a canalized manner.
This beach features an extensive sandy area, providing ample space for visitors. Along its length, various fragmented rock formations can be observed. The presence of these rocks helps shape the coastline, creating the impression of a small cove. The interaction of waves with these rocky structures can result in a certain choppiness of the waters, characteristic of the Atlantic coastal environment.
When the tide recedes, Leça Beach transforms, revealing a multitude of rock pools among the exposed rocks. These small temporary ecosystems are a scene of discovery and exploration, particularly captivating for younger visitors who find a natural space for play and marine life observation here. The combination of the sandy area and the rocky zones offers a diverse environment, suitable for relaxing seaside strolls and moments of landscape contemplation.
