It is an oceanic beach bathed by the Atlantic waters and is part of an extensive and continuous sandy stretch. Its position offers wide views of the sea and the coastline. Although part of an urban area, the beach maintains a strong connection to nature. Avenida Beira Mar (Seaside Avenue) runs along this seafront and features a cycle path, inviting relaxing strolls by the ocean. To the south, the beach is demarcated by a pier, which distinguishes it from neighbouring bathing areas.
Characterized by a very wide sandy area, Canide (North) Beach provides ample space for its visitors. Its waves, of moderate intensity, make the location suitable for practicing various water activities. This section of the beach is known for regularly hosting sporting events, such as kiteboarding competitions or beach football games, contributing to a dynamic and inviting atmosphere for outdoor sports enthusiasts.
The natural beauty of Canide (North) Beach is enhanced by its valuable dune system. This ecologically important landscape is safeguarded by fences and wooden walkways, which help preserve the local ecosystem. The coastal area where the beach is located is also part of the Douro Estuary Local Natural Reserve, which underscores its environmental value. Access to the sandy area is facilitated by wooden walkways, which not only guide bathers' circulation but also protect the fragile dunes, providing a harmonious experience with nature. Water quality is a consistently valued aspect, recognized by the awards granted annually.
