Árvore Beach is located in the locality of Árvore, belonging to the parish of Cabreiro, in the municipality of Vila do Conde. This coastal strip in northern Portugal, bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, is situated in an area of great environmental importance. It is integrated into the Vila do Conde Coastal Regional Protected Landscape and Mindelo Ornithological Reserve, which confers significant natural and landscape value to the site.
Characterized by a large sandy area, Árvore Beach stretches for approximately one kilometer. Its vast expanse is completely devoid of rock formations, offering a continuous space of fine sand that invites long walks along the waterline. At the southern end of the beach, the landscape is punctuated by the mouth of the Ribeira de Silvares, a natural element that enriches the coastal environment.
One of the most striking features of Árvore Beach is its extensive and well-preserved dune system. These dunes, essential for the coastal ecosystem and the stability of the sandy area, are carefully protected by wooden fences. To allow for the exploration and appreciation of this natural environment without compromising its conservation, elevated walkways were installed, winding through the vegetation, offering visitors a pleasant route and a unique perspective on the dune landscape and the sea.
Árvore Beach's location within a protected area highlights its ecological value. This area is a crucial habitat for various species of coastal flora and fauna, particularly for avifauna, given its inclusion in the Mindelo Ornithological Reserve. The generally tranquil and vast environment provides direct contact with nature, ideal for those seeking the serenity of the sea and the beauty of a well-preserved coastal landscape.
