Located in the parish of Pias, in the municipality of Lousada, near the Sousa River and the Ribeira de Pontarrinhas (Pontarrinhas Stream).
A baroque-style church, built between 1736 and 1739. The exterior is sober and austere, while the interior is richly decorated.
The altarpiece in gilded wood carving stands out, a work by the carver Manuel da Costa de Andrade. There are also two side altarpieces that possibly belong to one of his disciples.
Upon entering, visitors are greeted by the chancel, where the main altarpiece and beautiful blue and white tiles are found on the walls.
The interior is ornamented with various sculptures, including those of Saint Benedict, Saint Scholastica, Our Lady, Saint Joseph, Saint Sebastian, Saint Anthony, Saint Roch, and the patron saint, Saint Lawrence, who is an 18th-century polychrome figure.
The walls of the chancel are decorated with narrative tiles, arranged in six panels, which depict scenes from daily life.
The Church of São Lourenço de Pias offers a unique experience, combining history, art, and spirituality. It is an ideal place for lovers of culture and architecture.
