It was part of an old house in Porto, built in the 15th/16th century, and was brought to Penafiel in the 19th century.
In 1880, after the demolition of the house, the window was preserved and offered by Tomás Sandeman to Manuel Pedro Guedes, owner of Quinta da Aveleda, in Penafiel.
Example of Manueline architecture, with decorative stone details, such as plant motifs and two small seating areas.
It is located in the gardens of Quinta da Aveleda, on a small island in a lake, integrating the romantic scenery of the property.
It has been a National Monument since 1910, recognized for its historical value.
