Parque Urbano dos Amores is located in Pedrouços, a locality in the municipality of Maia, situated within the Levadinha urbanization. This green space is a prominent feature in a more densely urbanized area, offering a natural lung and a meeting point for the local community and visitors. Its location along the banks of the Ribeira dos Amores, also known in some stretches as ribeiro do Boi Morto, provides a direct connection to the riverside landscape that flows into the Leça River.

A Green Space for Regeneration

Created in 2009, Parque Urbano dos Amores was born with the purpose of providing the population with a new leisure area, while also promoting the important environmental regeneration of the Ribeira dos Amores banks. This intervention transformed a previously underutilized area into a vibrant park, revitalizing the riparian ecosystem and integrating it harmoniously into the urban fabric. The landscaping project focused on creating an environment that invites tranquility and connection with nature.

Structure and Leisure

The park extends over a considerable area, characterized by an extensive network of pedestrian paths that wind through the vegetation, facilitating exploration of the space and connection to the urban surroundings. Among its distinctive elements is an ecological wooden bridge that crosses the stream, adding a picturesque touch to the landscape. For the youngest visitors, there is a children's playground strategically positioned in an area that functions as a natural amphitheater, providing a safe and sheltered environment. The park also includes an informal area designed for sports, with goals available, inviting outdoor physical activity.

Environment and Design

The design of Parque Urbano dos Amores combines functionality with an aesthetic intended for well-being. Its recently renovated wooden walkways mark the main entrances and geometrically cut across the gravel paths, bordered by trees such as stone pines and white poplars, which contribute to a serene and inviting atmosphere. These design elements not only facilitate circulation but also enhance the natural beauty of the location, making it a pleasant setting for strolls and moments of relaxation.
