The Parque Oriental da Cidade do Porto is located in the eastern part of the city, integrated into the area known as Lagarteiro. It occupies a space that follows the final stretch of the Rio Tinto, blending into the urban landscape of this part of the municipality. The Creation of the Park

This extensive green space is the result of a project designed by landscape architect Sidónio Pardal. The vision behind its creation was to transform an area that presented several divisions and irregularities into a unified and inviting natural environment. The central objective was to provide a calm and tranquil place where people could spend their free time in serenity, enjoying nature.

The park's design also sought to recover and enhance the banks of the Rio Tinto, contributing to a healthier and more pleasant riparian environment that could be enjoyed by everyone.

Landscape and Natural Environment

The Parque Oriental presents itself as a green space with particular attention to aesthetics and landscape. It develops linearly along the river, offering paths and grassy areas that invite exploration and relaxation. The vegetation includes various characteristic tree species, such as Maritime pine, cork oak, and Pyrenean oak, which contribute to the natural atmosphere of the place.

The design integrates different modeled landscape units, seeking to create an environment that, despite being in an urban context, maintains a more bucolic and nature-friendly profile. The promotion of biodiversity is an aspect considered in the park's management.
