Parque do Cedro is located in Mafamude, one of the civil parishes of Vila Nova de Gaia. Situated in an urban area that shares its name, this park is an easily accessible green space designed for everyone's enjoyment. Although it coexists with the Cedro Primary School, its design was conceived from the outset for unrestricted public use, naturally integrating into the daily life of the local community.
Recently redeveloped, Parque do Cedro presents itself as a modern and inviting place. The renovation work focused on improving the functionality and comfort of the space, notably the requalification of all accesses, including ramps and stairs, which facilitates visitor circulation. More benches were also installed, inviting rest and contemplation. The revitalization of this park aims to offer a pleasant and safe environment for its visitors.
At the center of Parque do Cedro lies a natural element of great significance: a robust oak tree. This oak, the oldest tree specimen in the park, survived past interventions and has become a central and symbolic figure of the space. Alongside this oak, new trees have been planted, which, as they grow, will enrich the environment with more shaded areas, contributing to a cooler and more pleasant atmosphere, especially on hotter days.
Parque do Cedro offers various options for leisure and outdoor activities. For children, there is a playground that provides moments of play and fun. Furthermore, the traditional hopscotch game is painted on the pavement, inviting playful interaction. The space also includes a renovated sports hub, which stands out for its popularity and is frequently used by those looking to stay active, making it a meeting point for various age groups.
