Located in the city of Porto, Pasteleira Park presents itself as a vast green space in the heart of the urban environment. Its area, although separated by Rua de Afonso Paiva, is intelligently united by three wooden jetties, which facilitate passage between its two plots. This arrangement integrates the park into the urban fabric, serving as an easily accessible point for those seeking a natural refuge in the city.
Pasteleira Park was born from a project developed between 2004 and 2009, authored by landscape architect Marisa Lavrador. Its creation transformed a former dense pine forest area into a recreational space. The park's design incorporates gently contoured lakes that harmonize with the curvilinear layout of the paths. There are terraced areas with gentle slopes, and several amphitheater-style benches invite visitors to linger and observe the surroundings.
This park constitutes one of the last large plots of natural vegetation in the area, being a vestige of the historic Pinhais da Foz. Its flora is characterized by the dominant presence of species such as the maritime pine and the cork oak, which give the space a distinct forest atmosphere. The rhododendron is another plant species that can be observed, contributing to the site's botanical diversity.
With an area of seven hectares, Pasteleira Park offers opportunities for various outdoor activities. Its paths, some paved and others gravel, are suitable for walking or running. The park has a cycling path of approximately two kilometers, promoting mobility and physical exercise. In addition to leisure, the space houses an Environmental Education Center, including a Ribeiras Interpretive Center, which provides moments of learning about the surrounding natural environment.
