The history of this place dates back to medieval times. In the 16th century, with the construction of the first manor house, the property passed into the possession of the Almeida family, associated with historical figures. The complex seen today resulted from different phases of construction and alteration over the centuries, reflecting its long occupation.
The built complex includes two distinct manor houses. Although the oldest one is in a state of ruin, its vestiges can still be observed. The more recent manor house was built in the 19th century and incorporates a chapel. Outside the newer manor house, a fountain can be found. Elements such as the coat of arms of the Pereira-Brandão family, present in the new manor house, allude to its history.

A significant part of the land is classified as a National Ecological Reserve and a National Agricultural Reserve, underscoring the importance of its natural heritage and its contribution to local biodiversity.
