District: Porto > Amarante > Amarante
Situated right in the center of Amarante, on Rua Teixeira de Vasconcelos, the gallery occupies the ground floor of a typical regional building, with whitewashed facades and aged wooden doors. It is located directly in front of the house where the poet Teixeira de Pascoaes was born, which gives the place a strong connection to the Saudosista movement.
In the vicinity, the tranquil banks of the Tâmega River invite a serene stroll before or after the visit. The proximity to the medieval bridge of São Gonçalo and to historic squares creates an urban environment that blends contemporary art with Amarante's architectural tradition.
Conceived by the artist Zuzanna Olowska Hope, the gallery was born from the desire to build bridges between different artistic expressions. The name "MUSO" honors the figure of the local poet and reflects the spirit of a creative muse that drives exhibitions of painting, sculpture, photography, and video.
Independently curated, the programming favors collective exhibitions where national and international artists dialogue with each other and with the region's cultural roots. Natural light, filtered through large windows, enhances each work and reinforces the connection between interior and exterior.
The space combines a gallery, an interior design studio, and a painting workshop. The white walls and light wooden floor offer a neutral backdrop, ideal for appreciating works and, at the same time, participating in oil painting classes or outdoor drawing sessions, by the Tâmega River and the Ovelha stream.
Visitors can discover Zuzanna's creative process, request a personalized commission, or simply enjoy an intimate atmosphere where every corner has been designed to highlight details and spark the curiosity of art lovers.
