The Living Linen Museum is located in the Casais mill, in the Lousada region.
The museum offers a unique opportunity to understand the linen production process, a traditional crop of the region.
The mill itself is a magnificent example and is supplied by a levada (water channel) that makes it a unique attraction.
Although linen cultivation does not have the same importance today, in Casais, this tradition persists.
The Linen Mill is about 60 years old, has a circular shape and is built of stone with a thatched roof, which is regularly renewed.
The interior of the mill functions as a Living Linen Museum, where you can explore the traditional tools used to work the linen.
Linen production was a fundamental part of local life, but is now on the verge of extinction.
