The collection of the Padre Silva Lopes Museum offers a fascinating journey through the history and traditions of Lavra. Inside, a valuable collection of sacred art predominates, with pieces dating from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Visitors can admire a set of liturgical objects and various religious images, characterized by their polychromy. In addition to the religious heritage, the museum displays ethnographic artifacts that illustrate the daily life and ancient practices of the community, such as examples of traditional craftsmanship, agricultural tools, and vestiges related to linen manufacturing.
In addition to the ethnographic and sacred art elements, the museum houses archaeological findings of great relevance, which reveal the temporal depth of human occupation in the region. Outside the building, important lithic elements can be observed, including fragments of a Neolithic megalithic monument, which are among the oldest vestiges of human presence in the municipality of Matosinhos. Inside, the collection also includes evidence of an ancient Roman villa nearby and vestiges of Roman fish salting tanks, completing a comprehensive portrait of Lavra's millenary heritage.
