Real Park spans an urban area in Matosinhos, naturally integrating into the housing fabric of the Real parish. It is situated along a hillside and is notable for its proximity to the Metro line, which crosses the area. Its strategic position allows for easy connection with the urban environment, while offering a green refuge, functioning as an extension of daily life for inhabitants and visitors.

A Respite in Urban Nature

Inaugurated in 2001, this park, spanning approximately 4.5 hectares, is a space for coexistence between local and urban flora. Although it features some common species, Real Park stands out for its effort to preserve and introduce native vegetation, such as Portuguese oaks and cork oaks, especially in steeper areas. A water line meanders through the park, adding a dynamic element to the landscape and allowing the growth of associated vegetation, such as elder. In spring, particularly in May, one can admire the showy bloom of the Dutch iris, which dots the meadows.

Memory and Recreation

Real Park was designed to be a space for leisure and recreation, promoting integration between nature and urban life. Its design aimed to value the memories of a landscape with strong ties to agricultural exploitation. Thus, it seeks to evoke a more rural ambience through the recovery and adaptation of traditional structures, such as rural houses, vegetable gardens, and orchards. This approach gives the park significant cultural value, while offering varied settings for rest and informal activities.

An Invitation to Socialize

Designed for everyone's enjoyment, Real Park offers multiple paths connecting its various areas, inviting peaceful strolls and moments of socializing. The paths, paved with gravel and delimited by wooden sleepers (old railway ties), highlight attention to detail and sustainability. It is a suitable place for family leisure, relaxed games, and children's play, who find in the park a stage for imagination and freedom.
