The church is located in the parish of Boim, in the municipality of Lousada, set in a peaceful area with beautiful views over the valley and small surrounding villages.
Records of the church date back to the 13th century. Throughout the ages, it has been linked to noble families and the monastic life of the region. It is one of the oldest testimonies to the religious presence in Lousada.
The main building displays typical 16th-century elements, featuring a round-arched stone portal. The bell tower was constructed in the 17th century, and several extensions were added later, creating an original and interesting form.
Inside, there are two altars of significant artistic value:
, One dedicated to Saint Vincent, featuring antique carved woodwork and images of Benedictine saints.
, Another, from the 18th century, dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament, crafted by a renowned woodcarver from Braga.
This small chapel within the church was built on the initiative of the local inhabitants and has become a site of frequent devotion, hosting pilgrimages and novenas on various Sundays throughout the year.
Atop a nearby hill stands this simple yet highly cherished chapel. Every year on April 23rd, a popular festival is held, featuring Mass, a procession, and a cattle fair. According to tradition, Saint George protects animals, particularly oxen.
The church is part of an ensemble with the old parish house and school, forming a pleasant space for those who enjoy visiting historical and tranquil locations. Nearby, there are rural paths and a small stream with old mills.
