District: Porto > Porto > Porto > Agra do Amial

Location

The "Loop" is located in the heart of the Agra do Amial area in Porto, a district integrated into the vibrant university and technological hub of Asprela. This installation is prominently positioned in the garden in front of the central building of UPTEC, Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto. Its location is within a dynamic environment, characterized by the presence of various educational and health institutions, which generates a constant flow of people and gives the area an atmosphere of innovation and knowledge.

A Landmark in Urban Space

Inaugurated in 2018, the "Loop" was created to mark UPTEC's tenth anniversary. More than just a piece of urban furniture, this structure was conceived as a lasting symbol of the park's past and future. Its presence in public space aims to create a focal point, a place that invites pause and social interaction, seeking to fill a gap of interesting elements in the Asprela urban landscape.

Shape, Texture, and Meaning

The "Loop" presents itself as a circular concrete bench, distinguished by its organic texture and continuous unfolding shape. The design evokes the idea that repetition, even in a circle, is never identical; each turn generates new nuances and identities. This piece invites interaction and appropriation by those who visit it, functioning as an informal meeting point where conversation flows and topics become democratized, with no limits to the participation of those who pass by.
