The chapel, classified as a property of public interest, is located in the center of Junqueira, Vila do Conde, in a space surrounded by a small, peaceful garden.
With a simple and discreet facade, the chapel features a porch supported by columns, where the date 1713 above the portal stands out, indicating the end of the works. At the top, an oculus and a cross complete the visual.
Inside, the space surprises with its wealth of details. The walls of the nave are covered with blue and white tiles and painted coffered ceilings. The chancel is entirely decorated with gilded carvings, offering an imposing and highly contrasting setting compared to the exterior.
Built in the 18th century by the Canons Regular of St. Augustine, the chapel was part of an effort to restore the importance of the Monastery of São Simão da Junqueira.
