The Monte Tadeu Garden is located in the Bonfim parish, a traditional and dynamic area of the city of Porto. This unique space establishes an important vertical and pedestrian connection, linking Rua do Monte Tadeu to Rua Monte dos Congregados. It integrates into the city's urban fabric, presenting itself as a pathway that rises, typical of Porto's hillsides.

The 'Passiflora' Staircase

The central point of the Monte Tadeu Garden is a staircase that has been transformed into a vibrant open-air gallery. Intervened by the artist Mura (Giuliana Yoshimura), this concrete and stone structure has gained a new life through colors and shapes that evoke nature. The mural, titled 'Passiflora', occupies the flights of stairs and later extended to the neighboring walls, creating a chromatic stain that stands out in the urban landscape.

The density of colors and the fluidity of the compositions invite a close look, making the simple ascent or descent a moment of artistic appreciation. It is a work that integrates into the environment, transforming infrastructure into an aesthetic element.

Inspiration and Atmosphere

The art present on the staircase is inspired by the passionflower, a species that fascinates artist Mura with its unique aesthetic. This theme gives the place a distinct atmosphere, seeking to represent a "breath" of nature in the heart of the city. The organic shapes and vivid hues create a harmonious contrast with the built environment, offering a refreshing visual experience.

The positive reception by local residents encouraged the expansion of the work, highlighting how public art can enhance and give soul to everyday spaces, creating a connection between the community and artistic expression.

Renovation and Urban Contribution

In addition to the artistic dimension, the Monte Tadeu staircase underwent significant structural rehabilitation. This intervention focused on repairing the walls flanking the flights of stairs, including crack injection and plaster renovation. Equally important were the works on the sidewalks and drainage system, which ensure the functionality and durability of the infrastructure.

This care for maintenance and improvement of the infrastructure, combined with the artistic intervention, contributes to the enhancement of public space, making it safer, more pleasant, and aesthetically enriched for those who pass through it.
