Its current name, Jardim da Praça de Francisco Sá Carneiro (Francisco Sá Carneiro Square Garden), was assigned in 1981, to honor the memory of Francisco Sá Carneiro. This prominent figure in Portuguese politics, who served as Prime Minister, was born in Porto and is commemorated here through this notable public space.
