The Parish Church is located in the central area of the village of Seixezelo. The churchyard, which surrounds the building, offers a perspective of the surrounding area, allowing a glimpse of the transition between the more built-up core and some elements that retain characteristics of rural spaces in the immediate vicinity.
This religious temple features a design dating back to the 19th century. Its main facade stands out for the sobriety of its lines. Above the entrance door, a perfect arch is one of the prominent visual elements. The facade culminates in a triangular pediment, topped by a cross. The bell tower, built of stone, rises beside the church's main body and is topped by a curved dome. Inside, the tower houses two bells.
Inside the church, various elements capture the visitor's attention. The altars are focal points, especially the main altar, where the image of Saint Marina is venerated. This figure, representing the patron saint of the parish, is a 17th-century wooden work that has been repainted over time. Other prominent altars include the one dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and that of Our Lady of Conceição, the latter featuring a polychrome wooden sculpture from the 19th century. The interior space also features a baptismal font, a pulpit, and a high choir equipped with an organ, which enrich the ambiance.
As the Mother Church, this temple plays a central role in the religious and social life of Seixezelo. The community's connection to its patron saint, Saint Marina, is deep and ancient, reflected in the devotion maintained over the centuries. The annual celebration of the feast in honor of Saint Marina, on July 18th, is one of the most significant moments in the local calendar, underlining the importance of this place of worship and its patron saint for the parish's identity.
