The Parish Church of Paredes is located in the Madalena area, in the heart of Paredes city. Its construction on an elevated point gives it a notable presence in the urban landscape, making it visible from various points. Access to the temple is via a wide staircase, which in itself, is a prominent feature.
This religious temple, whose construction began in the late 19th century, was solemnly inaugurated in 1908. Its architecture stands out for its clear tendency towards verticality, a characteristic that gives it a singular and imposing elegance. The main body of the building, composed of a rectangular nave and chancel, is flanked by two imposing bell towers. These towers are quadrangular, topped by pinnacles at the extremities and crowned by pyramidal domes, culminating in iron crosses that rise above the horizon.
The church facades are clad in white, a color that creates a harmonious contrast with the stonework elements defining the window frames and building corners. Along the structure, one observes rectangular windows with full arches, which contribute to the entry of natural light and to the exterior aesthetic. The monumental access staircase, whose steps are interspersed with landings, is paved with a combination of limestone and basalt, materials that enhance its grandeur and invite ascent.
