The Church of Santa Eulália stands in the locality of Vandoma, in the municipality of Paredes, integrated into the Santa Eulália urbanization. The temple is built on a sloping terrain, upon an elevated platform that forms a spacious churchyard. This outdoor space, paved with granite cubes, is dotted with large trees and features benches, inviting moments of tranquility. In the churchyard, there are several stone crosses, forming a Way of the Cross, and a mortuary chapel, imbuing the place with an atmosphere of contemplation and memory.
The history of the Church of Santa Eulália dates back to the 16th century, with the probable construction of its primitive building. The parish records of 1758 already refer to it as dedicated to Santa Eulália, mentioning the existence of various altars and brotherhoods. Over time, the temple underwent significant transformations, with a substantial reconstruction in the 19th century and an extensive expansion and renovation intervention between 1984 and 1986. These different eras of construction and reform lend the church a rich narrative, visible in the diversity of styles that compose it.
The façade of the Church of Santa Eulália presents a remarkable combination of Baroque elements and styles from the 19th and 20th centuries. Its walls, plastered and painted white, are highlighted by granite stonework details, including the cornerstones and finishes. The main façade is tripartite, with the central section elevated and topped by a gable, where a portal and an oculus open. The bell tower, located on the right side, rises in three registers, culminating in a pyramidal spire, and includes a clock, marking the passage of time in the community.
Inside, the Church of Santa Eulália dazzles with its decorative and artistic richness. The nave walls, plastered and painted white, display wainscoting of patterned tiles in shades of blue and white, which line the lower part. The highlight of the main chapel is its Rococo-style carved altarpiece, painted in beige and gold, profusely ornamented with twisted columns, festoons, and angels. In the side chapels, there are other carved altarpieces, also crafted with spiral columns and angel details, housing various images. The main chapel also features polychrome patterned tiles and a false barrel vault with coffers, creating an environment of great grandeur and beauty. A spacious wooden choir loft, with masonry staircases, invites observation of the space from a different perspective.
