The Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda Foundation is strategically located in Nevogilde, an area of Porto, on the vast and renowned Avenida da Boavista. This artery, one of the city's most extensive, provides a dynamic urban setting. From the Foundation, it is possible to glimpse the City Park, a vast green lung that invites leisure and tranquility, complementing the atmosphere of the building's surrounding area.
Established in 1964 by António Cupertino de Miranda, this private institution was founded with the mission to develop cultural, educational, and social activities. Its main purpose is to promote the knowledge society and strengthen social cohesion, maintaining a strong and active connection with the community. The Foundation has consolidated itself as a reference space, designing sustainable and relevant programming that contributes to Porto's cultural development.
Inside the Foundation, visitors can explore the Banknote Museum, which houses a unique and valuable collection, considered the most important private collection of fiduciary paper in Portugal. It is a space dedicated to the evolution of money, allowing a fascinating journey through the history of currency. Among the exhibitions, "Money and Transport" stands out, a display that explores the interconnection between these two themes, often featuring miniatures illustrating the progression of means of transport over time.
